ORPC act as Radiation Protection Advisers to two County Councils, many Academies and over 50 of the top 150 Independent Schools in the UK (as named by to The Sunday Times 2018).
To act as RPA for a new client it is expected that there will be a visit by ORPC to the School.
The visit is designed to see the arrangements for storage and use including checking for radioactive contamination in the store and wipe testing the sources.
Documentation necessary for compliance (Local Rules, Radiation Risk Assessment, Administrative Control etc.) will be reviewed and guidance on any changes recommended provided.
Advice on all aspects of source use including the most cost effective means of disposing of sources, will be given.
ORPC have 20 years’ experience of working with Schools and the visit will also prepare for School Inspectors.
The visit is followed by a report, in both electronic and paper form, confirming the advice provided. After the visit there is on-going email and telephone support.
